Travel API for loyalty and rewards programs
A loyalty travel API lets a points or rewards programme sell flights, hotels, tours and other travel inside its own app. Tripgic returns net prices from 700+ airlines and 2M+ hotels through one REST API. You turn that price into points or cash plus points, keep the brand and the member, and the API books and tickets.
Built for bank and card rewards, airline-agnostic coalition programmes, retail and telco loyalty, and employee-rewards platforms that want travel redemptions without signing a contract with every airline and bedbank.

Lounge APIHow points pricing works with net rates
The API never prices in points. Each booking returns the supplier net price plus Tripgic’s flat markup, in cash. Your programme owns the conversion: you decide what a point is worth, add your own margin and show the member a points price, a cash price, or a mix of both.
That keeps the points ledger, earn rules and breakage in your system, where they already live. Tripgic is paid in cash from your prepaid wallet, so the travel cost of every redemption is known before the member confirms.
| Line | Amount | Who sets it |
|---|---|---|
| Supplier net rate (2 nights at USD 120) | USD 240.00 | Hotel supplier, returned by the API |
| Tripgic flat markup (USD 2 per night) | USD 4.00 | Your Tripgic plan |
| Your programme margin (10%) | USD 24.40 | Your programme |
| Cash value shown to the member | USD 268.40 | Your programme |
| Points price at 1 point = USD 0.01 | 26,840 points | Your programme |
Rates and the points value are examples. The markup is the published Enterprise hotel markup on the pricing page.
The redemption flow, step by step
- 1
Search
The member searches flights, rooms or activities in your app; the API returns live availability and net prices.
- 2
Show the points price
Your platform converts each result to points (or cash plus points) using your own rules.
- 3
Price check
Right before checkout, re-confirm the final price and the cancellation policy with the API.
- 4
Debit points
Your loyalty system reserves or debits the points and takes any cash portion through your own checkout.
- 5
Book and issue
Create the booking; the API returns the ticket, hotel voucher or activity confirmation.
- 6
Service the booking
Cancellations and changes follow the fare or rate rules the API returned; you decide how points are refunded.
Private-label: your brand, your member, your data
Your storefront
The API supplies inventory, content and confirmation. You own the screens, the brand and the customer relationship.
Your points ledger
Earn rules, tiers, expiry and breakage stay in your loyalty platform; the API only sees a cash booking.
Predictable cost
No subscription and no percentage commission — a flat markup per passenger, night or booking on top of the net price.
Ways to add travel to a loyalty programme
Three common routes, compared on what matters to a programme manager.
| Direct supplier contracts | Hosted redemption portal | Travel API (Tripgic) | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Contracts to sign | One per airline, GDS or bedbank | One, with the portal vendor | One |
| Inventory | Only what you contract | The vendor’s catalogue | 700+ airlines, 2M+ hotels, tours, transfers, eSIM |
| Member experience | Fully yours, but you build everything | The vendor’s pages, lightly branded | Fully yours, built on one schema |
| Pricing model | Negotiated per supplier | Often a fee per redemption or a revenue share | Net price plus a flat markup per transaction |
| Time to first redemption | Months per supplier | Weeks | Sandbox at no charge, then live in days |
Why programmes widen their reward choice
Members value a programme by what they can spend points on. In a 2016 Collinson Latitude survey of 2,250 travel loyalty members in Asia, Europe, the Middle East and the US, 61% said they look for programmes with more reward choice, and 71% said a programme is worth less when redemption options are limited.
Travel is the reward most members aspire to, but each airline or hotel contract adds months of work. A single travel API gives a programme global flights and hotels plus low-points rewards such as activities and eSIM from day one.
Frequently asked questions
Can members pay with points through the Tripgic API?
Yes, through your own platform. The API prices every booking in cash (supplier net price plus a flat markup). Your loyalty system converts that to points, debits the member and then books through the API, paid from your prepaid Tripgic wallet.
Does Tripgic run the points ledger?
No. Earn rules, balances, tiers, expiry and breakage stay in your loyalty platform. Tripgic supplies the travel inventory, booking and ticketing, so it only ever sees a cash booking.
Can members use cash plus points?
Yes. Because the API returns the full cash price, your checkout can split it between points and a card payment in any ratio your programme allows.
What travel can a rewards programme sell?
Flights from 700+ airlines (GDS, NDC and 67 low-cost carriers), 2M+ hotels, tours and activities, airport transfers and travel eSIM. Airport lounges, fast track and meet and greet are available on the Enterprise plan.
What happens to points when a booking is cancelled?
The API returns each fare's or rate's cancellation rules and processes the cancellation under them. Any supplier refund comes back in cash; how many points you return to the member is your programme's decision.
How long does it take to launch travel redemptions?
Sandbox credentials are free after a short kick-off call, and every product uses the same normalized JSON, so one redemption flow covers flights, hotels and activities. Teams typically go from sandbox to production in days rather than the months a direct supplier contract takes.
