Finnair NDC: how agencies and developers access Finnair content

The EDIFACT surcharge, NDC-only fares, the first Offer and Order NDC channel, GDS NDC availability, and the three ways to connect.

What is Finnair NDC?

Finnair NDC is the airline’s IATA New Distribution Capability channel. Agencies use it to book Finnair with Light fares, private and continuously priced fares and the PrioFlex corporate bundle, none of which carry the cost-recovery surcharge Finnair applies to GDS EDIFACT tickets.

Finnair is one of the most advanced NDC airlines: NDC@Scale certified in 2020, around 70% of tickets sold through modern channels by 2024, and in August 2026 the first airline to run a fully Offer- and Order-based NDC channel on Amadeus Nevio. How much is the Finnair EDIFACT surcharge?

Finnair introduced a €12 per fare component surcharge on EDIFACT bookings in July 2022 and raised it to €15 per bound from September 2023. NDC fares carry no cost-recovery surcharge.

Which NDC version does Finnair use?

Finnair’s trade NDC page lists schema versions 21.3 and 18.1. In August 2026 it went live with a fully Offer- and Order-based NDC channel on Amadeus Nevio.

Can I book Finnair NDC in a GDS?

Yes. Sabre has carried Finnair NDC since March 2023, Travelport since February 2025, and Finnair agreed in July 2022 to add NDC content to Amadeus.
